Choosing Life & Blessings Through Gratitude
Over the next thirty days I will choose life and blessings by purposing to cultivate a grateful heart through participation in the thirty-day gratitude challenge. My desire to take part in this exercise has grown each year since I first discovered it. However, each year I remember the challenge several days after its inception. Being the perfectionist that I am, jumping in midstream isn’t an option. Each year I tell myself, “Next year”. But “next year” comes and goes the same as previous years. Each passing year I miss out on the potential of increasing my gratefulness and the obvious impact increased gratefulness has on one’s life, all because I refuse to let any day be day one. Perfectionism robs me of immense opportunity.
Day One of the Challenge
This year it finally happened. I came across a post on Facebook about the challenge earlier today – Day #1. So today I am grateful for grace! Specifically the grace God has bestowed on my heart and life by putting this challenge in front of me on day one. I am grateful to finally begin a journey I know I desperately need. I am grateful God pursues me with His grace despite my imperfections and failings. This year I will not be robbed! This year I will wholeheartedly pursue a heart of gratefulness.
Join Me
No matter what day you see this post let it be your day #1! Join me in this potentially life changing challenge. You don’t have to start or end the challenge on any certain day, or even a certain month. Although it is great to begin in November, in conjunction with Thanksgiving, it doesn’t have to be achieved during Thanksgiving season. It can be completed anytime. A grateful heart is never out of season.
What are you grateful for today? Share what you are thankful for, if you plan to join in the fun, or how you are implementing thankfulness into your life in the comments below. I look forward to hearing your heart on this subject.
I will give thanks to the LORD with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonders. – Psalm 9:1 NASB
