I Just Don’t Have it in Me
Have you ever said, “I just don’t have it in me to do … (such and such)?” Well let’s think of that phrase in light of Scripture:
Galatians 2:20 says, “20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”
With Christ in you, how can you say you don’t have it in you to accomplish the task at hand?
Renewing Your Mind
People are crazy and use Scripture to justify anything and everything. This practice is not what I am referring to. I am not saying use this verse to affirm you can do absolutely anything regardless of calling and season in life. I am contending that, instead of being overwhelmed with the assignment set before you, renew your mind. If the task is something you are called to do, whether it’s feed an infant at 2 a.m. when you haven’t slept in days, or start a ministry and/or follow a calling when you have no idea where to begin, I’m saying, come into agreement with Scripture instead of agreeing with the impossibility of the task.
Realize who you are. Realize Who lives in you. Realize Who created you. Realize Who called you. Realize Who has laid the task at hand before you. Realize Who graced you. Realize that Who, Jesus Christ, lives on the inside of you! Let that realization sink in. Remind yourself daily, hourly, or even minute by minute of that reality. Then turn again to the task at hand.
It’s Not Magic
I also am not saying it is easy, or that repeating this verse over and over will somehow magically change your circumstances or give you the courage and strength to move forward. It likely won’t make years of depression fade away in moments, nor solve the sleep deprivation from which you suffer. However, if you meditate on it instead of just mindlessly quoting it, it will gradually renew your mind and bring you to a new understanding of your situation, whatever it may be. If you recondition your mind to the realization of Christ in you, it will bring more peace into your situation as well.
Transformation
I emphatically believe God miraculously heals physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. Likewise, I know He often works through people and over time, and has set principles in place for us to follow. One of those principles involves renewing our minds: Romans 12:2 says, 2″ And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” This renewal brings transformation. However, it usually involves more work, time, and energy than we want to expend.
Christ in You
I encourage you to find an area of life you want to change. Then locate a Scripture that applies to that area of your life and meditate on it. If you don’t think you have it in you to accomplish this, I refer you back to Galatians 2:20:
“20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”

Hey Amber! We all need to be reminded periodically of the truths we so easily forget…
Will you be at Declare this year? I’m looking forward to it.
